Follow a few simple guidelines to avoid a painful sunburn and possible long-term damage to your skin.
- Apply sunscreen with sun protective factor (SPF) 15 or higher. Pay particular attention to your face, neck, ears, and arms.
- Wear clothing to protect exposed skin.
- Wear a hat with a wide brim to shade the face, head, ears, and neck.
- Wear sunglasses.
- Seek shade, especially during midday hours.
